Dempsey Miller
I am a native of Davenport, IA. I received a full football scholarship to attend the University of Northern Iowa were I earned a degree in the field of Social Science (social work). After college, I played four years of Professional Indoor football and three years for the Mid-American Football League. Iíve coached and assisted athletics at all levels from Pee-wee to Professional teams.

Iíve worked in the Social Service field since I was a teen. I bring many skills and certified trainings to my position. While being employed with the La Crosse School District I went back to school to obtain a masterís degree in Education - Professional Development from UWL.

My role as African American Liaison is to facilitate communication between home and school. I am an advocate for educational,social,cultural, economical and behavioral development-awarness for students, parents, schools and community. I assist in decreasing at-risk behaviors by collaborating with community agencies and district staff. In addition, I assist with staff/student development on the components of diversity. One of the programs that I implemented is the Boyz II Gentlemen Youth Mentoring program. This group meets on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the La Crosse YMCA.

Group Principals: Uplift, Truth, Dedication, Perserverance

Program includes and offers for students: Educational support, wellness, critical life skill development, decision-making development, the components of diversity, and character development.
