Where Children Soar Like Eagles
Where Children Soar Like Eagles

The mission at Emerson Elementary is to educate children in partnership with the family and the community so that students develop independence and responsibility for their own learning. We want to provide a caring, nurturing, and positive environment which will allow children to develop all their unique talents and abilities to be successful in life, as well as helpful citizens to others.

Emerson Elementary School is in a great location just east of the University of Wisconsin--La Crosse Campus with a beautiful view of the bluffs. By being close to the Campus, as well as Myrick Park, Myrick Marsh, and Hixon Forest Nature Center, we can take advantage of some great educational opportunities that enhance our school curriculum.

How do you measure success?

To laugh often, and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a redeemed social condition, or a job well done; to know even one other life has breathed because you lived- this is to have succeeded.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Our school was named after Ralph Waldo Emerson. Emerson believed that all people have a divine spark within them and that, through reason, they can discover the facts and truth behind the way things look. According to Emerson, people should develop themselves to their full abilities so they can be ready when their skills are needed by others.
