Mississippi River Islands Named
Seventh grade students participated in an island naming contest organized by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The contest involved selecting names and justifying through explanation for the newly constructed islands on the Mississippi River. These names were to reflect the area's geology, geography, history or wildlife. More than 160 people submitted more than 1,000 names. These names (Broken Bow Island and Snake Tongue Island )were submitted by Joey S, Cass R, Luke H, and Parker S. The names these students created are now part of the Mississippi River! Congratulations!
